Mini Facelift / Necklift in Columbus, Ohio

In recent years there has been a tremendous demand for non-surgical and minimally invasive options for appearance enhancement. It seems as though everyday we hear about a new technique, device, or cream which can turn back the clock on aging. Many times these new treatment options are over-hyped and don't deliver the advertised results. It is therefore important to evaluate each with caution before jumping onto the bandwagon.

One particular technique which has recently sparked the public interest is the mini facelift. Many different facelift techniques have been described and tested over the years. The initial methods were more conservative. However in the 1990's, facelift surgery took a more aggressive turn because of the demand for more natural and longer lasting improvement. The pendulum now seems to have swung back again. Patients want improvement but with little or no downtime. Part of this shift also has to do with the fact that people are entertaining these options at a younger age than in years past.

Mini facelift procedures (Dr. Sullivan performs several different types depending on the situation) are designed for younger individuals with early aging changes or individuals looking for a subtle enhancement of the lower face and jawline without much downtime. These procedures result in a more youthful facial appearance and a stronger jawline.

The biggest challenge facing Dr. Sullivan with these procedures is selecting the proper candidate and determining who might receive the most benefit. Our Doctors will take the time to make sure you are well informed and have proper expectations so that you can make the right choices for yourself.

All mini facelift procedures involve making an incision in front of the ear. Care is taken, as with any facelift procedure, to hide this incision in natural creases. The incision will be red or pink for 6-8 weeks. Eventually these incisions become inconspicuous. Minor bruising is anticipated and will usually resolve within a week. Some temporary numbness in front of the ear should also be anticipated for a few months.

Often times a mini facelift can be preformed under local anesthesia with mild sedation however some patients may opt for general anesthesia. The choice of anesthesia is often left up to our patients but occasionally the type of procedure may dictate the best anesthetic option.
